At Significantly Higher Risk • The incidence of lymphoma increases with age and is more common in men than in women. Most occur in people who were previously healthy. • Occupational exposure in the flour, forestry and agricultural industries has been reported to increase the risk of developing certain types of intermediate- and high-grade lymphoma. • People with congenital or acquired abnormalities of their immune systems or who take medicine to suppress their immune systems have a higher incidence of lymphoma. • There is an increased incidence of intermediate- and high-grade lymphomas in people infected with the HIV virus for four or more years. • Exposure to radiation or chemotherapy .
